    SSL coming (again)

All - I will be trying to implement SSL connectivity again on BBO. You may see some various errors or warning boxes in the interim over the weekend while I implement, and then troubleshoot. BBO isn't really content sensitive, but nowadays google is starting to drop ranking of non-SSL sites.

Hey, it's only been 3.5 years, and no one is here, but by god, we've got SSL now!

Still ironing out a few minor issues, but it's in place and working fine for the most part.

I need to break down and put SSL on some of my domains. There's nothing that NEEDS encryption, but some browsers have stopped displaying non-encrypted stuff that is linked to from an encrypted site.

It's not hard, it's not expensive. I just needed to sit down and get my head out of my ass for an hour to do it. Firefox has a hissy fit if there is no cert so, whatever, I'm playing the game.

You're correct that it isn't hard, but...

I have domains that require multiple host names to be handled. Some of these are paid for by companies with big wallets and bulk purchase agreements. None of those sites are "acceptable" with anything less than a wild-card enterprise certificate. And now, Apple has put enough pressure on so that we have to change those out on an annual basis, because Safari seems to have a problem with handling certificate revocations. All for sites that don't involve money changing hands or personally-identifiable information.

Those site certificates cost $300/year (when we pay) or $1500/year (they buy).

I looked briefly at Let's Encrypt, but quickly come back to the Ferengi Rule of Acquisition #218. The sum of the sites in question probably have less traffic than here.

Within a few months, I have to configure a new physical site for those domains. Maybe then.
