Well that's php for ya, it's a very high maintenance format. I don't envy any of you mods/admins who have to deal with it.

This is a strange issue that I've been in contact with dreamhost. They are quite responsive, so by no means is anything about this really their fault. What is happening is that we are exceeding our resources from time to time. When that happens, the system automatically reboots our server. I contacted support because I get emails when this happens, and they played it down like it was rare and according to our graphs we aren't exceeding things too much that it affects us. I'll adjust our resources this week when I get back into town and we'll see how it plays out.

I haven't seen the problem for a couple weeks now. For a while it was pretty bad though.

I wondered if we were getting hit hard by some bot for a while?

+1, the software seems to be behaving itself lately.

That's around the time forum activity went down as people started putting bikes away. Real test will be spring time when things get busier again.

You don't understand how this works do you? The forum activity usually spikes during the winter and slows during the riding season. So your logic is backwards, try again.

Apparently I posted what was presumably a prototype Honda & a link to another forum I found it at...and rather than dispute the bike at said other forum via the link, everyone insisted on debating it with me instead --- as if somehow I was telepathically connected with the person at said other forum --- thus the resulting bandwidth combined with the telepathic shield that was in place was far more than this board could handle.
