    ....and moving!

Many many moons ago, I attempted to move BBO to vbulletin 5. Well, at that time, it was newly released, but for our purposes here it crashed and burned. They are putting vbulletin 4 out to pasture, and because of that, vb4 wont run on newer tech like PHP7. So, we're upgrading the software, and moving hosts. Still within AWS as we have been, but a newer plesk based server which I'm finding I love. Anyhow, there's not enough traffic here to really plan for it, but I'm doing a lot of testing now for here and motocampers and when I close up the forums for a couple of days, you'll know we're moving.

The move to PHP7 as a programmer can be a rather painful one, from what I hear. The PHP people went out of their way to break a lot of old code, sometimes for questionable reasons. It's no wonder the VB people don't want to try supporting both, and, if you don't control your host, you're GOING to get moved to PHP7.

Yeah, thankfully I control the environment here 100% but it was just the next evolution.

Move is done...ish. I'll be working on the colors and theme to make it look like the old place, but that will be a drawn out process because its a goddamn pain in the ass.

Hopefully some of the future options will include a theme that drops the "social media" links.

It looks like I'll have to re-tweak my cookie settings, because the "remember me" option has stopped working again.

Are you talking about the 'share' and 'tweet' buttons? I have mixed emotions on them.....

Yes, those buttons. I get very suspicious when pages have links to social media, because the images often are pulled from the SM sites, meaning you're getting tracked by them, even if you're not (deliberately) going to them. In FireFox I can tell Adblock to block any social media links. Have to see if that works on Chrome.

Yes, it does. No need to worry about the buttons in the theme...

It looks great so far, just getting in here now. One thing I see is that in the specialty forums, the women's group is no longer there?

They still exist, I have to make some security adjustments to fix a few things.
