New 2017 Ducati SuperSport
A quick review for those that might be interested. I'll admit right up front this machine combines almost everything I've ever wanted in a bike and does so brilliantly, so if I gush please bare with meThe appearance is EXTREMELY similar to the Panigale. Same swooped nose, similar fairing and similar tail end. The framing however is more Moster-like. The dash is simple (at least compared to some of the recent Japanese info centers) and more importantly much easier to see in direct sunlight th...

2003 Suzuki SV650 – one year review
2003 Suzuki SV650 – one year review Highlights: Light weight, torquey motor, responsive chassis Lowlights: poor seat, slightly buzzy motor at high rpm. A year has gone by since I got my 2003 SV650. Since then I’ve ridden it for commuting to work, spirited canyon carving, and a couple of longish trips over mountain passes, in sunshine and rain, summer and winter. To recap, this is the first year of the latest angular looking frame, with the fuel injected 650cc motor. Readers from the origi... -

2004 Yamaha FZ6
In the world of sport bikes, it seems like the idea of a “good starter bike” keeps getting pushed farther and farther out as the performance of the cutting edge superbikes keeps improving. A bike like the FZ6 with a slightly toned down R6 engine and comfortable ergonomics is downright friendly compared to a liter-sized race-ready “street” bike. It is loads of fun and does a lot of things well, but a brand new rider should look elsewhere for a first ride. More on that later. Let’s get... -

1997 Honda VT-600 Shadow VLX
1997 Honda VT-600 Shadow VLX I purchased my first street bike in May of 1997, a brand new black/yellow VLX Deluxe. I had been infatuated with the VLX's stylishly symetrical lines for many years, and after passing up the sweet purple/white ones in 1995, I couldn't pass this one by... The bike has a nice usable powerband. It handles and brakes well, in fact I enjoy "blasting" through the back road twisties on it, despite some radical frame geometry it's a real crispy handler that's fun to f... -

Harley-Davidson FLHTCI Electra Glide Classic FI
Harley-Davidson FLHTCI Electra Glide Classic FI (NOT a beginner bike) I rented Harley's flagship for a day, a big beautiful touring bike, and reluctantly turned it in 24 hours later. It was an all black Harley Davidson Electra Glide Classic FI. What a nice bike that was! This one had a factory alarm in addition to the standard hardbags/trunk, front fairing w/AM/FM/Cassette/Weather Info, spot lamps, full size engine guard, floorboards and heel/toe shifter. First things first, the weigh... -

1996 Honda CMX-250 Rebel
Before looking into an entry level bike for my wife, I had read the June 2001 issue Cruiser Magazine and they compared entry level bikes in that issue (the 250 Rebel, Yamaha Virago 250, Suzuki GZ250, and the Kawasaki Eliminator 125). Their staff picked the V'go and the GZ overall but the Rebel came in as 2nd for all the test riders, so I went with consistency (not to mention history). So I started hunting for a V'go or Rebel for my wife, and ended up buying a VLX instead. She wasn't really comfortable... -

1997 Honda VF750 Magna
(not highly recommended as a beginner bike) When I rode one of these bikes (a used 97) I didn't want to return it! What a handler, give this bike a road with plenty of S-curves and it's right at home. If it weren't for the fact that my feet were in front of me I would have to remind myself that this isn't a sport-bike. The styling is top notch, I don't think I would want to alter much. Perhaps a set of aftermarket slash-cut styled pipes, an air filter kit/jet kit(does anybody make a hyperchar... -

BARGAINS DON’T HAVE TO BE BORING.
Suzuki GS500 Vs.Kawasaki Ninja 500
by MCN Staff You'd be hard pressed to find two more reliable and user-friendly motorcycles on today’s market than Suzuki’s GS500F and Kawasaki’s Ninja 500R (formerly known as the EX500). Both are lightweight, weighing in at about 440 lbs., both cost less than $5000, have fairly relaxed ergonomics, and each can boast of a decade’s history of reliability. Between them, they have ushered many a new rider... -

2003 Honda Reflex
The Honda Reflex is the smallest of the "Big Three" maxi-scooters offered for sale in the United States. It sports a 249cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine, the well known V-Matic automatic transmission, and un-linked single disc front and rear brakes with hand controls, and weighs in dry at 351 lbs. As all the maxi-scoots in this category do, the Reflex comes stock with a large, comfortable driver/passenger seat, windshield, a body style that helps protect you from wind, ... -

2004 Honda Silverwing
Honda Silver Wing
Not being very technical, I must admit I “borrowed” some of this info from Motorcycle Dailey’s review; but added my own experience and comments, too. The Silver Wing is a big scooter. It has a dry weight of 476 pounds (over 500 with fluids), a 14” front tire and a 13” rear tire, and a huge, very comfortable dual seat. The 582 cc parallel twin-powered Silver Wing can do many things as well as a motorcycle, and some things better (such as carry your ... -
