The good, the bad and the ugly...

    The Good

I get paid the same mileage for work if I ride the KLR or drive the Scooby. And NM14 is sufficently curvy and fun to ride for me and just about 50 miles of the Turquoise Trail up the back of the Sandias.

And it was my commute to work this morning. Gotta love getting paid by the mile to ride a motorbike on a semi-twisty road. Now if only there weren't OTHER people commuting too.

    The Bad

The KLR doesn't like crosswinds, and the commute FROM work up in Fanta Se was windy. Felt like I was fighting the whole way home and my laptop backpack was ripping up my shoulders. I've got to get a small tailbag to stick some of my commuting stuff in.

    The Ugly

They're filming a movie in Madrid half-way to SF. And holding all traffic on the only street through the town. And sitting on the tarmac in a queue on an NM afternoon for the second time (the first was for construction) and slowly baking inside my first gear was less fun than the rest of the trip. Blah.

BUT! I get to do it all again tomorrow and see if the wind is better in the afternoon. And maybe get a tailbag FIRST.

Cool! (Or Baking! as the case may be - LOL). It's a real kick for me, hearing stories of people riding on roads I'm actually familiar with.

Sigh....getting paid mileage to commute on your bike. I'm so jealous.

Well... I was commuting to a customer site. It takes a little longer -- especially with the stoppages. But it's a wonderful, wonderful thing as long as I don't have to take I-25.

OTOH, the wind was better today and using a tailbag for the laptop not a backpack made a world of difference to comfort on the ride.

And it turns out the movie is a biker movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0486946/ -- Hogs Wild) and I can't decide if John Travolta cruised past me while waiting this afternoon at the front of a HUGE pack of cruisers and choppers. Heh.

Guess they don't want extras on Dual Sports.
