Checking in after a little ten-year break

Hope everyone is safe and well! Starting to get the itch again, so I figured I’d come back and check in to see what’s up at good old BBO. Sorry I dropped out. Life gets busy...

    Hi again!
    Regards,
    Collin

    Hi Collin!
Glad to see you back. It is definitely quieter here than it was 10 years ago!

Any particular bike giving you the itch again?

Hi Trials! Hi Missy! Nice to see you again! I am looking at the Yamaha Bolt, Honda Rebel 500, and Kawasaki Vulcan S 650. I haven’t done any seat testing, yet, but I really like the peg placement on the Rebel and the Bolt. One thing I didn’t love about my Kawasaki was that the pegs were a little too far forward for my liking. Looks like some of the technology has come a long way. I remember they were just talking about ABS on some of the big bikes back in the day. Now, it doesn’t look like it’s that hard to come by. How big a difference does it make?
    Regards,
    Collin

ABS has practically become mandatory on new model bikes. If you operate the brakes properly, chances are you will never even know it is on there :/ until it comes time to service the brake hydraulics or stuff starts to rust & break down, then you will know it.

Lots of bike choices out there now highly recommend you go for the ones that have fuel injection.

    Caddie~
The recent trends in North America have been to "re-introduce" the smaller/medium engine sizes. It's nice to see 300cc-500cc engine sizes available, again.
What kind of riding do you do the most?

Would you be considered a "re-entry" rider? If so, then brushing up on a class might not be a bad idea.

Definitely hoping for FI over carbs. I am probably considered re-entry. I haven’t ridden since about ‘08 or ‘09. I was just thinking to hit some country roads or go get some coffee on a Sat morning, and take the long way home. Nothing big — not planning to commute or travel around the world. I did do MSF 15 years ago, and would love to take it again if I can find a course around here...especially now.

    PS. Thanks for the responses!
    Regards,
    Collin
