    lace-up boots?

Hi - anyone wear lace-up boots? I'm looking at getting some new boots this season and was considering getting a pair of army boots. They seem about half to 2/3s of the price of the motorcycle boots I'm looking at. The only thing I don't like is laces, as they are prone to coming undone, which could be very hazardous. I suppose one could tape them down (as I did to my skates when played ice hockey) or find some sort of elastic cuff. Any thoughts? Cheers, and Happy New Year!

Good idea, that way they won't hang up on anything when you go to try and put a foot down. :I done that, been there, even had a friend break his leg that way.

I used to have a pair of ICON Super Duty boots I wore to work. They had an ankle strap that went over the laces. I'd tie up the laces, shove em down down between the crossed "x"s and the strap held them down.

thanks for the tips. I posted the same question on a dual sport board and everyone said buy real bike boots, which I suppose makes sense if you are hitting the trails and falling is a regular part of the routine. I ended up buying a pair of bike boots by Forma, supposedly a 50/50 boot that hopefully will be good for street and gravel highways.

Good choice. For an adventure boot, I would stay away from laces that can snag rocks and branches and pull your foot off the pegs. Also, off-road boots have better ankle protection for fall protection.
