    Off the bike for awhile...

...due to smoke inhalation. Not of the house fire type, but the raging-giant-forest-fire type.

Between being sick last week and sorting out some foibles with the new (to us) truck, I hadnít ridden the bike to work in about two weeks. Suited up and rolled in yesterday, through a good bit of smoke that has blown down here from the two big fires in Mendocino / Redding. I havenít really been bothered by it at the house and when just driving around town. Got off the bike yesterday and had the distinct thought ďSo this is what it must feel like to have asthma...Ē. Tight chest, nose and throat mildly burning, and a headache.

If anyone thinks they donít get enough airflow to breathe with a full-face helmet on, riding through smoke would quickly disabuse them of that. Ugh. Looks like Iíll be in the truck til this all blows over.

I wonder if one of those charcoal-infused filter clothes they sell for riding in smoggy areas would have helped?
