    my mods

Hi, Last year I went to the edge of the pavement and stuck a toe on the gravel and thought it would be fun to venture off down some gravel roads next (now this) season, so I thought I'd post about the mods I've done recently to make my cb500x a bit more offroad-friendly.

    1. Rally raid shorty levers - adjustable and seem really well made.
    2. Bark buster storm hand guards.
    3. Bruudt radiator guard. Seems well made and easy to install.
    4. Givi touring screen. Jury still out. I think at higher speeds I'm getting unpleasant buffeting at the top of my helmet. I also had to take it to a plastic specialist and trim it to accommodate the bark busters. Even with the rally raid spacer kit installed, the BB were still hitting the screen on full lock. But I'll use it for a while this Spring and see how I like it.
    5. Progrip gel grips. Huge improvement over the stock grips, which are hard and slippery. Feel much more throttle control now.
    6. Rally Raid engine guard/skid plate. Nicely made. On my bike, was challenging to mount as it didn't fit great at first, but got it done in the end. Still have one or two issues to resolve with it but it looks like a nice piece of equipment.
    7. Shinko 705 tires.

My son has a 2014 CB500X. He likes it very much. He has been venturing onto some dirt roads and trails. His bike is bone stock.

Perhaps we will look into some of these mods for him.

Looks good. Iíve been considering many of the same mods for my own CB500X, so I look forward to hearing how they work out for you.

so far the only issue I have is that my new taller windscreen is creating a lot of top-of-head buffeting at speeds above 50mph/80kph. I'm looking into various options. I've heard that putting spacers at the bottom of the screen to increase the tilt can help, so I'm going to try that. My favourite mod so far is simply the new gel grips.

I have a Givi screen too and ended up going back to the stock screen at its lowest setting for exactly the reason you describe. Havenít tried messing with spacers yet, but Iíve heard of people having success with them.

Been a while since I've been in here. Saw this post and my first thought was where the heck do you fit a 19 inch video display screen on a motorcycle. Methinks my geek has too much control. 😁
