For a $21K base price I would demand a little more HDTV in the visual department...black & white went has-been in the 1970s.

These seem to carry lower than average (or BMW anyways) price tags:

Yes, these bikes intrigue me. A little retro cool, but better engineering than a Harley.

I have to agree that I cannot see myself spending $21K on a motorcycle.

Something like this could be fun:

Around here, you can find them for around $4K, with ABS. I rode a few, found them very unwieldy, almost like a Harley, but without the advantage of Harley feel. But some people love them. Also, look at R1100R/R1150R/R1200R.

I went to look at the 2018 Softails today. I have not taken one for a test ride, but fit and fitment was disappointing. The passenger seat and support arm for the saddle bags both jiggle. At least the jiggle was consistent from bike to bike. For $20K, you would think they could engineer more precise fitments. Or at least snug the jiggle with some rubber bushings.

The look cool, but do not look like they would hold up well. At least the seat and saddle bags do not look like they would last very long.

But better that they got rid of the retro looking saddle bags from the twin cams that did not even have real buckles. They had fake buckles that covers a plastic snap connector.

I think I will test ride one. I would like to see how they handle and what the feel of the bike is like. But at the moment, I think I like my '92 better.

Mention you're also looking at a 250 Rebel at less than 10% of their asking price and the seats & luggage don't rattle on that bike...

I thought the “rattling” was a large part of the “character”...

Don’t we pay extra for that?

    Here’s a pic from Sunday’s ride.

Yes, but it is not supposed to start rattling until after you start it.

Not anymore...the M-8 is counterbalanced and solid mounted to the frame, first/last seen via the MoCo on the TC-88B softails circa Y2K.
