Without watching it, if he went beyond getting the license plate on video, it was a dangerous risk.

All that passing on the right was not a good idea. That said, I'm actually surprised that car was able to operate...it was leaving a generous amount of debris as it did so.

Dangerous risk. Motorcyclist put himself at risk, and since the driver apparently knew he was being persued by the motorcyclist, could've put others at risk.

That said,it's easy to be an armchair quarterback. What if the motorcyclist hadn't followed him but the driver hit someone else? What if the driver hit someone else while being pursued? Of three possible outcomes, the best one occurred. I don't think chasing a drunk driver with parts coming off the car is the wisest decision though.

Considering how frequent hit & run has become, not to mention how complacent society has become with that, I think it was awesome to see a douche bag get nailed for it.

Los Angeles is just such a crazy place anymore nothing ever surprises me. Clearly there isn't enough law enforcement to adequately cover the city. I have nothing but the greatest respect for all of the agencies here as the insanity level is palpable and they put their lives square on the line in every situation they encounter. I'm cool with the guy givin' chase otherwise the Mercedes guy would have slipped away forever. There's no way the police here would have actively pursued that hit and run unless there was a fatal. It would have been a simple police report and turn the whole mess over to the insurance companies.
