    Ride about

Last May, I ended up being sorta homeless, so decided to go for a ride. It turned into a 4 month, 14,000 mile ride. OBX has sold me his '05 GS and one of the first things I did, was put the tank side cover on incorrectly, and riding in major headwind, it got ripped off the bike, and flew away. So I located on up in Grand Junction, CO. So that was my first direction of travel. Up thru AZ into Utah, then over to Colorado.
After getting and installing the side panel, I headed over to visit with some friends who live in Delta, CO. (staying with friends will be a recurring theme on this ride). They took me site seeing to Grand Mesa, then over to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.

    To be continued....

That wasn't permanent. I'm back in Tucson for awhile.

From Delta, CO, I headed east on hiway 50.

Heading to Kansans City to see old friends, and eat BBQ. (Another recurring theme in this post will probably be food. I like to eat.)

After KC, I wandered down into Arkansas.
I guess this antique store wasn't open.

From AR, into Tennessee. Stayed with a friend somewhere in rural TN.

From there, headed to the Outer Banks to hang out with Mike and GG.
    And to watch it rain.

How emabarassing. I spent almost two weeks in the OBX and the only pix I got to show for it, are food pix.

So after two weeks of rain, it broke long enough for me the get away. I headed over to visit a friend in northern Georgia.

She lives up on the side of Stone Mountain. Beautiful views.

She took me into Chatanooga for BBQ and a visit to Ruby Falls Cavern.

The actual falls are lit with colored lights. That with the water spray made for not so good pix.

From GA I headed back north into TN.

Then up thru WV into OH to visit more friends.

From OH, made my way into upstate NY to visit friends and family.

What a great trip, and being able to visit people you know along the way makes it even better!
    Thanks for sharing!

The only way I could afford to do this ride was with the help of freinds and fam. It's hard to afford motels on social security.

So stayed with a friend in Attica, then made my way over to Woodstock where my bro lives. I hadn't seen him in 35+ years, and had not met his wife or kids. So that was fun.
I also found out that Woodstock didn't happen in Woodstock. It was over in Bethel, NY. So I wandered over that way to see Yasgars farm.

The town of Woodstock was kinda interesting.

    Some big pieces of meat.

    And found this town,

Went up and down looking for some taco trucks. Nada. Nothing.
    Big disappointment.

So I wandered about upstate NY for a while, then slipped over into Vermont. Stayed at the Wilson House in Dorset. A nice old hotel.

My main reason for going to VT was to visit this gentleman's grave. I have been a student of his writings for many years.
I then went back into NY to visit his home. Nice pad.

Somebody accused me of washing my bike. So I had to take a pic for proof of the false accusations. lol

NY is supposed to be famous for pizza, so I stopped in for some. Can you guess what flavor?
Chicken Ceasar Salad pizza. Don't bother ordering it if you see it on the menu. Take my word for it.
