Good looking bike, and an AWESOME choice for a 'little step up' 2nd bike.

I agree with above posters - coming from a scooter, a GS500F is a very appropriate, and possibly unbeatable first "shifty" motorcycle. Have fun on it! I still like the GS500 a lot, myself...

The GS500 is a great first "real" bike, speaking from experience. If you're looking for a bike-specific support community, check out GSTwins.com. I'm on that forum with the same name. Great group of people! (Not that this one isn't as well!)

Hi jdoorn14, I just got the bike on Saturday and yes I have checked out GSTwins.com already and have found a great wealth of information on there. I'm sure that it will serve me to keep my bike in great shape.

Can you give some examples of great first "fake" bikes?

Take your pick of OCC offerings.

People that buy those things have more dollars than sense, often their first bike (which they think is great, after all the builders are on TV), and they're fake --- not just the bikes either, mind you.

So what's the proper response when your smart ass comment has been met with smart ass comments?

I'm trying to figure out what a fake motorcycle is...

I had an 86 VFR back when it was new and loved it. I have a 2007 VFR (anniversary paint job b/c it reminded me of my 86) now and really like it too. The VTEC is cool even if it doesn't really do much. My everyday ride is a BMWF F650GS Twin (=800 cc).

I got the GS after a lapse of riding for a few years years. I've had it for two years and then bought the Interceptor as my fun bike. The Interceptor is often called the old man's sport bike but honestly I had a little bit of a learing curve riding it b/c I hadn't been on a sport bike in 10 years. So with all that said be careful going from a 250 scooter to a bike especially if the Reflex is an automatic (I don't know much about scooters). Bottom line crawl -walk - run...don't be too eager to get a powerful bike if your are not ready.
