Kacie gave up 2 wheels (first born perfectionism was REALLY adverse to falling..which is detrimental/crippling to riding dirt on 2 wheels..LOL) but is doing well with the new-to-us quad (we've only had this particular quad for about 6 weeks..her Chinese model gave up after a good life. LOL) I'd like to get her into an ATV safety class now that she has the bigger quad. The local dirt track runs them so need to get her signed up. She's been riding a quad for years now but I think a class will be good. It's fun watching her gain confidence and adventure with the new quad. There are areas of trail she has refused to do on the other quad that she just plows right through now on the new quad, with a big grin on her face.

Cam does really well. I am most impressed that at 10 years old, he's a "thinker" when he rides. He doesn't EVER ride out of control/too fast - and picks great lines out on the trails. He hasn't had the 70 all that long...no more than 18 months, I don't think, but does great with it and is ready for the next step. We're excited to move him to something with a "real clutch". It just needs to wait a bit til finances get squared away. Already have a buyer for the 70.

Last weekend we went riding, with our 3 other friends, in an area where we first started riding and we were all with the same thoughts when we stopped for a break - how much we've all progressed in our riding. The one thing is the bikes we now have are more capable of sand, too, so that helps. There was a sandy area that we would purposely avoid but when we hit it last weekend, we were all giggling like little school girls afterwards.

So does this mean that when I come down to teach I should bring along my dirt gear?

ATV safety class is a great idea for Kacie! Glad to hear that the new quad has given her more confidence. Sounds like Cam is on the way to being a great dirt rider! Ya know...these are the memories they'll remember for the rest of their lives.

ATVs...hmmm...my experience with them is limited, and involved very few trees (none at all, as a matter of fact). It was definitely a different part of the continent:

Yup, not far from New York. Here's a pic of the city:

highly praise one that will have a bike suitable for riding in the sticks, the bus or the tough mounatin terrain. BUT do not try to do this alone as I did for simply ages & so often it was practicing at to be Observed Trials sections, to get the feel of scrambling, to cross country racing, to Enduros.

Believe me I have had so many concussions that I cannot count them including a few scull fractures. Often I will wake up, finding my limbs sort of move, to spot my bike laying on its side, to go over to see the damages & even if NONE, then I will note the bbl fins are quite cool to also reach to the start of the header exhaust system & find it is cold. THAT means I was knocked out for 20 or 30 minutes.

If you are injured and alone you will have to have a bike running & be able to go to the homes of a few asking for help in the concussion TO A FRIEND that will help you get the bike home AND believe me this is not easy.

I had a friend that was part of the British Team that competed against us Cdns in the World Championship, but was going to drop off & see some Americans he liked. Thing is THE Americans knew where they were going & he did not resulting in a broken leg. No one following & only reason the American friends came to help is that they counted the riders that had been with them to relize the Limey was missing.
Remember all the others on the road are crazy & out to kill you!!!!!!
