    The Guns thread.

    Since Missy's KelTec thread has been jacked into a 'talk about all things guns' thread, I figured I would start a 'talk about all things guns' thread.

    A good place for gun owners to answer any questions gun related.

    So I'll start with a question. What do you use to clean your guns?

    Me?
    It depends on how much time I have for cleaning.

    - For a good detail job, I remove the grips (most are wood, some are rubber/plastic) breakdown the gun, and give it a good blast with either, Birchwood Gun Scrubber/Break-Free Powder Blast/ Remington Action cleaner. This does 90% of the work. (wear gloves and eye protection when using these solvents)

    Then I brush the barrel and any other heavily fouled parts. Wipe dry, then spray on a thick layer of Rem Oil.
    (Rem Oil is thin, and will evaporate leaving a light coating of teflon on the surfaces. Fantastic stuff!)
    Wipe off excess, and re-assemble.

    - Quick and dirty. This method is messy. Remove grips, breakdown gun, and use Break-Free CLP and nylon brush to scrub down the metal parts. Wipe off excess and re-assemble.

    Stored guns get inspected every couple of months, and re-lubricated if needed.

    My question: What do all of Ty's acronyms mean?

    IWB = Inside Waist Band
    OWB = Outside Waist Band
    SS = Strong Side
    WS = Weak Side
    BUG = ?? Butt Ugly Gun? (I sorta enjoy making up my own meanings. LOL)

    What else, Ty?

    I usually use silicon powder rather than any of the oils on mine.

    Side note: My husband had an eye opening experience this weekend when we went to the gun show and he sees how much money we have locked up in our closet and under the bed in rifles.

    If Obama wins the election, prices on handguns and assault rifles will nearly double.
