    Saturday's Ride

My usual nervous nelly self swung a leg over to take my weekend ride with H. And as usual, I had the same conversation I always have just before I get on the bike:

"Look through the turns. Chin up. Handlebars straight when stopping. PUSH FORWARD to the right to got right. Don't push down..." and yadda yadda...

And guys, for the first time on the rode I felt GREAT on the bike. I felt it from the momment I pulled out of the driveway. It was my first truly comfortable experience on 'Viki' and I loved it. What a sweet ride!

Even though I forgot to pull in the clutch shifting to first when I pulled out of the driveway.
Even though I almost dropped the bike when it stalled in a turn.
Even though I came to a stop and put my feet down just a little early -- doing a Fred Flintstone impersonation.

The ride felt great the whole time.

Tonight I went for a short ride after work. I expected to feel equally as comfortable as Saturday. Well. I will say I wasn't nervous for the first time EVER before taking off, and it was actually ME who suggest we go riding -- another first. But the ride was not quite as Easy-Rider-friendly as last time.

I did get to ride alone for a couple miles. H decided to do a quick pull over that was not planned. It caught me off guard so I just beeped at him and rode on. You know. I've had this discussion with him before: "remember I'm a beginner -- don't make quick turn offs -- stick to the riding plan -- if you need to pull off signal well in advance" /sigh At any rate, I was amazed at just how free I felt out there 'alone.' Man. That was kewl. H caught up to me and I think he was a little amazed that I just kept going. Ha.

    Me too!

I'm so glad to hear your feeling more comfortable and less nervous when you ride, although alittle of that is healthy I think. Don't worry about those "almost" moments or "oopsie" moments, we all still have them. Luckily for most of us they happen less often the longer you ride. Great job too for riding your own ride and not your husbands. Sunday when Randy and I were riding he is leading and decides to "TAKE OFF" on the country roads. We'll it was Mother's Day and I wanted a nice leisurely ride through the country so I just kept going my leisurely pace. He got waaaaaay ahead of me and I didn't care, I was riding my own ride not his. Much more fun that way too. Keep up the great work and thanks again for sharing!!

That's pretty awesome, glad to hear you are starting to feel comfortable on the bike. At "Mer" said, some of that nervousness is a good thing. It keeps you on your toes and keeps you from becoming overconfident on the bike.

The big thing is to keep riding. The more experience you get, the better and more confident you will get. Before too long you will be dropping your H in the twisties.
