• Riding Safety Glasses- Nemesis (Highly Recommended)

First things first- A Full-Face visor should provide more and better protection than any safety glasses, and reduce eye fatigue. I got these because sometimes I like to flip my FF visor up when there's no traffic around or I'm going at slow speeds, and feel the wind in my face for a while. I still want something protecting my eyes, and in the sunlight, I want some sunglasses too. MissyB put me onto these safety glasses, and spared me from purchasing a $200 pair of Oakleys. Instead, I dropped about $20 and got a full complement of riding glasses.
    PROS:
    - The Nemeses Conform to the same strength/shatter resistance standard (ANSI Z87.1) as Oakleys and most Full face visors
    - Very comfortable (at least for me); I've worn them for 8 hours straight and had no discomfort or red marks on the nose. Very light.
    - They cost between $2.50 and $5.50 A PAIR, depending on whether they're on sale, at safetycompany.com. That means you're pretty much just paying for shipping.
    - Straight earpieces make them go on easily when you're wearing a full-face helmet. That's how I broke my old pair of Oakley Razor Blades- brittle earpiece snapped trying to get it up and over my ear.
    - I've got an Arai Signet, and the "quick change" visors don't go on and off as nicely as I'd like. Being able to switch glasses on the road is way easier, and takes up less space than visors.
    - They kind of "nest" with one another, meaning I carry three pair along with me in nearly the space that one pair of shades takes up.

    The three pair-
"MIRRORED BLUE" function as sunglasses, and do the job perfectly well. There is also a Mirrored Gray that I haven't tested out yet, and is slightly less darkly tinted.
"CLEAR (+ FOG-RESISTANT)" I carry for night riding.
"AMBER" is my default, it's actually equivalent to Oakley's "High intensity yellow" lenses. Great for overcast days, or when the sun is above the visual field. The yellow seems to actually increase visual contrast and clarity. DON'T get them as sunglasses, but DO get them for daytime riding when the sun's not in your face or way too bright.

    CONS:
-As a second layer of plastic inside a helmet, they can fog up at stoplights If you're breathing heavily. No worse than other sunglasses, near as I can tell.
    - These AREN'T goggles- they let a little bit of wind around to the eyes. Less than my other sunglasses, but some nonetheless.
    - They're a little aesthetically challenged, though I've seen tourists in worse. Personally, my old blades made me look cooler (form, and fire iridium, you know?) but priorities are priorities. When they say "Mirrored", though, they mean cheap sunglasses mirrored, not $80 Shoei mirrored lens mirrored.

Anyway, picture this- I have a small camera bag containing pressure gauge, the zip-in pits to my jacket, my cell phone and wallet, keys, digital camera, and it STILL has room for every pair of glasses I'll need to see best in any kind of weather or lighting, I paid an average of $3 apiece, so that's $3 * 3= $9 + $6 shipping= $15.00. And I can beat the crap out of them, take a butterfly or small pigeon to the eye, and replace them just as cheap. Beats $200 Oaks (which I would love for the pose factor) that would be just one more thing for me to obsess over keeping out of harm and theft's way, and would be useful in only sunlight.

Those who know me, know I'm a cheap man. I own one of every style of these, and an extra pair of amber. Because I can. Bwahahaahaaaaaaaaaaa

17th Annual NYC "IMS" Party (3/9/19)

Well, the regular NY group already knows the date. Yes, it's 17. Hard to believe. In 2002 a few of us on the board got together to ride and then ended up going to the IMS and partying. And now it's a...
