The concours is about 95% back to glory. Everything is reattached and there a few smaller issues that need to be addressed (maybe). I received the seat back last week and it looks great. The local shop did it for $175 and I think it looks as good as it did when it came off the line from corbin. Everything is buttoned up and there is a few screws missing for the fairing, but I'll get that taken care of courtesy of ace hardware. After the ...
Over last weekend I had made a run to my storage unit, and there on the floor laid a little white baggie wrapped in tape right where the motorcycle was parked. Could it be?! YES!!! It was my missing bolts! Ecstatic as a little boy at christmas I ran home to bolt the fairing on. A buddy had come over to do some welding on my mower for me, and as he did that, I started putting the fairing back on. I retired from that task for a moment to help him, and continued the next day to find that I had damn ...
Last night I went ahead and swapped o-rings as I had mentioned prior. I had an ingenious idea to just stuff the manifold pipe with towels to prevent drainage. That didnt work. So, I got some drainage, not much actually so less antifreeze I have to figure out what to do with. Thankfully the new water pump came with a few extra o-rings for this purpose. Even more thankfully I didn't throw them away when I did the first repair. Greased it up and slid it on and back went the manifold. Pretty drama free ...
So, for the last week the water pump has been at the local machine shop since the bolt sheered off. 40 bucks later (cheaper than a new water pump and OK in my book) and shes back on. I had my first ride without a breakdown today! Not far, didn't stray far from home, but ran about 10 miles around the lake and ran to the hardware store. Have another repair issue, I didn't pay attention that few of the o-rings needed to be replaced on the manifold pipe, so I have to drain the coolant ...
I've not socially ridden a motorcycle in the better part of 3 years. Since my son was born, I was focused on him, then for other personal reasons I took time away from the bike. Not really based on my decisions, but more based on my morale from other life issues. I tried selling my bike in 2011, unsuccessfully. I had some leaks that were obviously a problem for potential buyers, so I ended up keeping it through winter of 2011. I determined from online research that I needed a new water pump, which ...
