For the rest of the site. Got off my lazy butt today and created the template for the rest of the site...take a look, I'm interested in hearing some feedback.

I personally don't really care for the logo....I like the overall look of the template though.

Ok suggestions for the logo? I tried for an artsy setup so that no one could complain that i have a sport bike on there, or vise versa for a cruiser...

Looks good to me. I have a few annoyingly-minor comments
1) "Motorcycle Article" should probably be "... Articles" - unless you only plan on one :-)

2) "Live Chat" makes me think there might be such a thing as "Dead Chat". Maybe just "Chat"?

3) How about a "Contacts" section? We all know how to conact you (and eventually other moderators?) via the forum, but a new visitor may not.

And finally, given all you've done for us in setting this up, I don't think "lazy" is in your vocabulary. I'm tired just from watching you work :-). Thanks again!

2) Good call
3) Done.

How about a banner....something scenic, then someone with some graphics skill (not me) can add in the name of the site or something else creative....

Here are a couple sample banner type images that I cropped out from my pics: (just an idea...not suggesting that either of these necessarily become the logo....but you're welcome to them if you like)

I really like that first one.. I'll work it up, and see what we can get from it...thanks for the suggestion.

would bike reviews be part of the article's section?

If yes, make it maybe articles/reviews or articles and reviews.

If no, what about adding a section for reviews.

done, i also rephrased it to "motorcycling articles" so that the two wouldnt be confused.

Those banners look great Mike!! I think they would look awesome at the top of the page. Now that someone mentioned it...i'm not too keen on that image up there at the moment.

And if anyone asks, that road is Big Cottonwood Canyon in Salt Lake City, and that's my little blue Bandit on the side of the road....

The basic template is a great starting point.

I'm confident that all the Members of this site will continue providing constructive recommendations for improving it.

Great work...

That's much better..."a community for all things motorcycle."

are you saying you would prefer "a" as opposed to "the"?

by stating "THE community.." its inferring that we are the best....are we not striving to be just that?! :)

j/k..but there is some seriousness to that...

In my post, I subconsciously changed "the community..." to "a community...." Giving it some thought, though, I like "a community...." It's more friendly and welcoming.

Now that's a logo :)

I really like the one on the main page...with the fade....did you have size considerations that caused you to use the smaller one without the fade on the forum page?

Either way, they both look good.

The logo is great, but I think it looked better in color. Some pics look better and more artsy in black and white, but not that one, a lot of the detail is lost.

I don't know if it belongs in this thread or not, but I'm wondering if a "view previous topic/view next topic" hotkey can be added to the BOTTOM of each page, as well as being at the top. RIght now, you have to scroll back up to the top of the page you just read to go on to the next thread.

It's good that there's one at the top, because that lets you scroll quickly through threads you're not interested in. But an additional one at the bottom would be very helpful. Looks like there's room in front of the "Goto page" link...

yeah the logo on the forum page has to be pretty narrow ~300px otherwise we will see a lot of problems with the forum having to scroll with users at lower resolution. I tried me best to preserve the scene, but something has to be sliced....

I meant to make an update, I had to restore the original files because some stuff wasnt updating properly in the database. When I went to redownload the hack, the site was down...I'll get it back again when I get home from work...provided their website is back up. It goes right under the ALL TIMES GMT -X Hours line.

Thanks, it looks much better, a little dark, but better.

the home page icon is lighter, but on the forum page, since everything, including the text was smaller, I wanted the emphasis to be on the text, easy to read; without drowning out the landscape. There is SOME method to my madness..

Great; thanks! It's a small thing, but it saves scrolling up-and-down-and-up-again. And I'm lazy.
