I've been wearing a full face helmet exclusively since I started riding a few years ago and when I actually did try a 1/2 helmet I didn't like it. I was used to bugs being deflected, I had no idea how much your helmet actually insulates you from wind noise, and I thought I looked like a goof with the half helmet.

Once in a great while, something will make a loud "THWACK" on my helmet. Could be a piece of gravel, or a twig, an acorn, a big bug, even a small bird. I rarely have any idea what the objects are when I hear them hit; I can only speculate how much pain I'd be in if they were lodged in my face. I've never considered any lesser-coverage helmets for this reason alone. I'm considering a flip-up, though, lid-changing time is coming up for me and I hear those helmets are improving in quality.

Full face HJC...hate it. looking for a new one as we speak.

I recently went on a quest to find a new brain bucket. The guy who sells HJCs said he didn't think they were any good, and not worth the money. I finally decided upon the Shoei RF 1000. Pricey, but I really like it....

I have a HJC AC-3 helmet. It's a 3/4 with a full face shield. DOT and Snell approved. Fits my noggin. I like it.

Everyone has to make up his or her own mind....

I had previously attached a pic of an accident victim with severe facial injuries. One of my former careers was that of a Firefighter/Paramedic, and I sometimes take it for granted that everyone can handle that sort of thing. My apologies to all....

I wear a full-face helmet - always!

I wear a FF Arai Quantum/F

Nice lid, fairly light and quite comfortable.

Build quality is quite high too.

After trying on lots of helmets, I settled on the HJC Symax flip; in transit from www.tonker.com (Gotta love that beginnerbikers discount on top of already low prices--) The x-small fits better than either the KBC or the Shoei. Love the flip-- & the Symax's sleek profile. Good reviews too.

I have an HJC FF CL-14 in the "smoke" color.

It is a good-looking helmet (IMO), has both DOT and Snell certifications, and is about $150.

It is loud on the highway though-earplugs recommend for anything over 55mph.

Full Face for sure. After my small fall in my course seeing where the damage on my helmet was (lower chin area) I will not ride with anything but. Had I hot had a FF on I would have had serious scrapes on my face.
