NOT a replacement for the garage. I'm done messing with that and having users have to replace their pics and so on. The garage will remain (link at the top would probably go away though) right under your name, and with a click a user could see what was in your garage.
With that being said, what I want opinions on is the VBA Photo Gallery. They have a demo site here: http://www.vbadvanced.com/gallery/ it's interactive you can play around and test it out, but this would be used for a variety of stuff. People, pets, cars, more bikes, vacations, etc. It's more setup like a potluck, so thats the reason I want to keep the garage, but it's another investment for the site, so I want opinions before I decide to buy, Post it here...thanks!

I think it's a cool looking feature, I'd be in favor but with a couple of reservations...
Bandwidth and Disc Space. May not be a problem now, but could be in the future.
Related:
1. Is there a way to limit the total uploaded MB of a particular user?
2. Can you prevent remote linking? (That could be a serious BW eater)
I also think it would be cool if we could integrate somehow, probably harder than it's worth... but to be able to both peruse the gallery and also be able to view all the pics of a particular user. So you could go to the gallery and say pick bikes and view a bunch of bikes... but also you could go to a user and view all the pics they've uploaded... bikes, what they look like, pets, rides...etc.
Make sense? Doable?

As of today, we have our permanent photo gallery. I apologize for the confusion over the past weeks, it's just been hard to find the right software for the job, and this new program is awesome. You can view a slide show, you can post all your pictures, and the quotas are very liberal. Pictures just can't be over 1MB (which is pretty freaking huge).
For the Trips and Events sections. CREATE A SUB CATEGORY before you upload your pictures. It allows for a much more organized system, and there is info on how to do that on the gallery home page. Go ahead, upload your stuff...
As for the garage, while you can certainly upload new pics of your bike into the vbgallery, I think keeping the garage under your username helps people check out your ride quickly without wading through the gallery. However, I COULD change that to "view my pictures" and it would send the user to all the pictures that you have uploaded into the gallery. Member reaction will guage what we do with the garage...
I hope you enjoy! I did quite a bit of research before settling on this.

I see that most of the categories in the gallery have been covered in the forum, such as pets, bikes, events, trips, etc. Are you trying to get people to post in the galleries instead of on the forum?

Basically. I mean the pet thread is fine, and I'm not asking anyone to repost anything, but in the future for organization sake, post it to the gallery. In addition, once you've posted it to the gallery, it shows the image code so you can just copy/paste into whatever thread you like, and it's there.

Also, it has a LOT of features, so when the spring comes and everybody goes on senic rides, you can post all you pictures, into the trips category and view it as a slideshow...

NIce feature.
Thanks.
I uploaded 2 pics. One was OK in terms of size, the other was HUGE.
Can we resize on the upload, or does it have to be done on home computer only?

No sure if the new tool does but...
If you are running XP, grab XP PowerToy Image Resizer from Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx) (free). There are some other stuff up there too - and I just don't like linking to an EXE
