My name is Allen Lincoln,i came across your advert place on net ,that you want to sell your(*Bike*) ,which i am highly interested in it. I have a shipper who takes care of the shipment, so shipping will not pose any problem, but before payment will be made i need to be sure of who i will be dealing with if you are going to be honest and sincere throughout the transaction. So to start with, signify your interest by forwarding to me your last asking Price as well ,after which we can continue with the transaction and i promise if all conditions and agreement are accepted and reached on time, payment will be made out almost immediately.hoping to hear from you. Respectfully
Best regards,
Lincoln

That was...wow.

I found this ad the other day on Craigslist:

I need about three grand - for this and that and to fix the ride and to maybe buy a skirt or a pair of britches that make me look girlie... Maybe I should post for a sugar daddy - but that's not the case - I'd actually PAY YOU BACK for money you give me now. SWF (is that how it goes???) ISO - ANYONE to give her $$$ in exchange for (hummm.... that's a tough one - if I said "you name it" would that make me a whore?) okay,... you name it - I'm easy. I NEED MONEY, and a man, and my bike fixed, and a date every once in a while and some anonymous sex, and a haircut and my nails done and cable tv (although that's not really important), and someone to laugh with and a partner in crime (but not really crime because I'm probably on probation somewhere) and a drinking buddy or someone to go to AA with or DAMN YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN>>> WRITE ME!!!

it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests

I put my Bandit on the market in the fall, not expecting much...got a couple bites that were legit, but several that were scams like this...apparently it works enough times that they keep trying.

One of my favorite websites for chuckles is http://www.reversescam.com/.

I've tried pulling the same thing on a scammer, but he never wrote me back. I wonder why.
