Even though I have a huge trunk in my S'Wing, I'm looking for saddle and tail bags for it. H and I are going to Knoxville this June, and will be gone for 10 days. I don't think I can get everything I need in my trunk.

Anyone know of saddle and tail bags for maxi scooters? Or bags for motorcycles that will fit a big scoot?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts, comments, or info.

I know they make the top cases and I know some folks buy a type of tank bag that fits in the step-through space- but I haven't heard of saddle bags for a scooter. I've been wondering the same thing for the Reflex- even scoped out the top cases the other day, although I don't like the looks of them much. They're coming out with more for the S'wings and Burg 650's all the time- I'll have to help you do some more research!

Stay safe-

One thing I learned when I eschewed the motorcycle in favor of scooters: sometimes ya gotta improvise

I remember several years back, when we each had a Helix, we used straps to tie medium-size duffel bags to the passenger rails. I faced them with soft cloth to keep them from scratching the paint. Those bags stood up to a 600 mile round trip to Kentucky. With my 'wing, before I had the sidecar put on, I found some small sidebags that were meant for ATVs (luckily they came in black. cammo just looked a bit incongruous). They also strapped to the passenger handrails. I coated them with scotch guard, but that didn't make them waterproof, I found out. If I remember, I was able to pack 4 days worth of clothes in those.

Now :smug: I just pull back the tonneau cover on my sidecar and dump everything in ;-)

I think a good thread to start would be packing tips. For those new to riding trips, it's different than going by car. I learned the hard way that it is easy to overpack :freak:

Please tell me you didn't just say you've got too much junk in your trunk! :p

x_cuesmeI've seen the GiVi tail/top cases, but I'm not fond of them either, nor am I keen on the tank/step-thru bags (but I may change my mind on the step-thru).

I've seen some expandable saddlebags and tailbags for sport bikes on the web. They're soft cases, not hard like panniers. Just don't know if they're expandable enough to fit across the wide back end of my S'Wing. I may go out this weekend and see if anyone has some in stock I can check out. :help:

I think you may be right about the improvisation. I'm looking at soft saddlebags that are expandable and made for sport bikes. My H also bought us a couple of dufflebags to strap on to the back of our bikes. They're not waterproof though. :nono: We could wrap them in plastic, but I don't relish listening to the snap, snap, snap of plastic for hundreds of miles.

Thanks for the suggestions! :)

I've thought about the duffel bag and how to attach it- I may look further into that. You can stuff A LOT in a duffel bag!

I'd like to see a thread on packing too- I am not at all sure how I'm going to go about doing this. The guys do road trips on the MC's but they use duffel bags and anchor them to their sissy bars and then use their saddle bags- I know weight and suspension can be an issue when you're carrying a load too. Guess I need to drag out the MOM...

The weight max on the Reflex is really quite low- actually, I don't think it's very high on the S'wing either. Of course, riding solo I'm sure we'll be alright- but two up, you couldn't add much and stay under the safe limit!
