If you watch F1 for the past two seasons Alonso has some sort of super boost/traction that launches that car at the start of the race. He's a great racer to hold off the McLaren, Schumi and the Honda teams.

Before anyone goes bozo about which vehicle is faster. The cars clearly are:

Nicky Hayden (Repsol Honda RC211V) powered to the first pole position of his MotoGP career with a commanding demonstration of courage and precision at Laguna Seca here this afternoon. His lap time of 1m 22.670s was enough to relegate Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) to second and Alex Barros (Camel Honda RC211V) to third.

MONTEREY, Calif. (October 13, 2001) - Gil de Ferran and Helio Castroneves traded the top spot in qualifying for tomorrow's CART race at Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca, with de Ferran nipping his teammate 1:08.596 min to 1:08.678 min to get pole position. Rookie sensation Scott Dixon will start 3rd.

Supposedly Alonso is going to take Schumacher's spot at Ferrari next season. That gig pays almost $50 million with the perks. Hopefully, they get the match races in before that happens:-D

Maybe that should be their wager -- the Ferrari slot.

That is so cool for Rossi - that he could even consider doing F1. Hell most people dream about being able to go fishing after they retire. Not Rossi, he's trying to decide whther or not he'll retire and kill tim by competing in the fstest and most elite motor sport in the world. Wow.

Actually Alonso is going to McLaren next year, not Ferrari. Rossi has already driven an F1 car. He's tested a few times this winter, for....Ferrari!! Nothing has come of it yet, press still unsure if Ferrari is seriously considering him, he is seriously considering them, or it was all just a big PR stunt.

Wow, I missed that Alonso to McLaren. So I guess Kimi moves to Ferrari then. No wonder Montoya is driving like a guy without a plan.

Anyway...I found this article. Alonso and Rossi talk a lot of smack:

Mmmm.... I love a good smack talking thread!!!

I hope Alonso keeps it up, that could be Nicky's best shot at a championship.

WOW, thanks Cinder I enjoyed that a lot. I've been a Jacques fans since the CART days. Can't say he ever ran a few lap like Gilles did there. May he RIP.

You're welcome. Glad you liked it. Naturally Jacques fan here too. I agree, never saw him turn a few laps like that.....but then again, don't think I've ever seen anybody but Gilles turn a few laps like that! Absolutely incredible. To this day when asked what the highlight of his career was Rene Arnoux will give that battle with Gilles the nod.
