In Illinois, msf training is subsidized by license fees.

While this is great that we get free courses, it also limits the number available & the courses fill up really really fast. Most of NIU district offereings are already filled for '06. The UIUC schedules haven't been posted yet, but will fill in a few days after posting (mail & drop off registrations only). UIUC covers the Chicago are BTW

If you even think you might want to learn to ride (or take the ERC) pay close attention to the links from this site.

http://www.dot.state.il.us/cycle.html Click on the rider in the triangle on the top of the page

Of course if you don't get a spot you can always try for a walk-in vacancy or pay for RIDECHICAGO or http://www.ridersedge.com/ courses.

I was curious how fast classes would fill.

Out of ~322 classes, 73 have completely filled only 24hours after posting.

That's at least 23% of the classes.

Pretty impressive considering ALL registration takes place either via snail mail or by registering in-person 120 miles south of Chicago

But it's pretty sad that when new folks start thinking about signing up in a month or so, everything will be already filled

Wel, that's pretty much for Illinois classes.
1 week after posting, everythings pretty much filled for the year.

May still be some downstate spots open.

Otherwise, those who need a class...walk-ins will be your best bet.
