Why is it that people show up here looking to get a big bike and the people that have been around a while look for little bikes? My kid had the XT225 and had a ball with it. Looks like fun but it is way to clean. You need to get some dirt on it.

Ho ho hoho... I join the one bike board out there full of ladies who accumulate bikes and then ride them in the dirt. Awesome!

Dirty pictures, now!

I will. But first I need to clean the chain.

Did an oil and filter change on it yesterday, added some Seafoam to the gas tank to see if I can smooth out the carb. Will probably need to rejet it as its running a bit lean, and I'm thinking about dropping a tooth.

The XT is very finicky if left sitting for too long and if you don't turn fuel valve off after parking it. Or mine was.

So...go ride it. :)

We have a procedure for our XTs - they are to have the fuel shut off (like all the other bikes), then be run dry (unlike the others) before storage.

No one remembers to do that, so they are "phun" to get running before the first class.

Forgot that run dry part...that is key. Paula has figured it out and has zero start up issues now.

Hubby had to clean the carbs on mine a few times because I didn't figure it.out. :)

That's REALLY important for any bike with corn fuel in it....If it's going to be stored for any length of time!

Ah HA! Thanks for the tip! I'm having a hard time remembering to turn the fuel valve back off.

Took some preliminary measurements yesterday. It looks like a YZ 490 mill will fit with an expansion chamber relocation...:)

EDIT~ Ok, just kidding!

Seriously, I had no idea the little XT was jetted so poorly from Yamaha. *Looks like I gotta do the typical main, pilot and air screw thing with it. Seems like I can leave the needle alone, but we'll see. (Sure hope it does wheelies after these mods.) Even if I gotta get on the passenger pegs, that's ok too! Been a long time since I had to use passenger pegs to get the front up!

NoCoGal is going to know how to "tune" when I get through with this bike...sure hope I don't open a can o' worms!

It wasn't sitting for THAT long. The XT is just really weird with it. Paula rides it more than I did and it still gives her issues if she forgets to let it drain/run.
