Hey everybody, it's about time for the Austin riders to get together again. We originally spoke about this weekend sometime, but I forgot I was heading to Hico on Saturday, the 29th. I could ride on Sunday, the 30th, but so far there's a 30% chance of rain. I'm all cool with that, but the closer we get the less the weather might cooperate, you know that Texas weather.
So anyway, I say for now we try for Sunday morning, howabout meeting at Smokey Js Bar-B-Q at 620 and 2222 at 10 am? We'll hit LCR, 1431, then try out some Park Road 4, then head on back. How does that sound?

Sounds okay to me, as long as it's not raining.

Howdy,
Also sounds good to me, as long as it isn't raining. (Weather channel has a 40% chance of rain for Sunday.)
Question - as a newbie, do you think I should forego the LCR portion and meet you on 1431? I'm thinking of Isaac's route for the upcoming Hill Country ride, and the note that there's an alternative route to LCR since it is rather technical.

It depends on how comfortable you are with the unexpected. :) The road is very twisty, and you never know what is around the next bend. Could be gravel, could be a car halfway in your lane. On the other hand, nobody will be making you hurry on it, so you're free to take it at your own pace. I think I can speak for both myself and Isaac when I say that it's fine whichever route you take. If you want to bypass it, no problem. If you want to give it a try, we'll take it really easy.

Yeah, we'll take it as easily as you need. I know Anthony can take it at a faster pace than I can but when I lead him he doesn't crowd me, he just takes it easy, too. Besides, I personally tend to take it plenty easy if it is the first time I ride it that day. And if you find we are going too fast for you, just slow down and ride the pace you feel comfortable at. If we do end up ahead of you we'll stop before we hit 1431, but I'm guessing that Anthony will ride tailgunner and he'll go your pace.
I see Lime Creek as a great chance to try some good technical riding. The pavement is pretty smooth and there are warning signs for the corners, so as long as you don't go too hot into the corner then you'll be fine. Just get a speed close to or at what the signs say and you'll be in good shape to take any needed evasive manuevers. Just keep your eyes open for gravel and oncoming traffic and it should be no real problem. I'll bet by the end of it you'll have a grin on your face.

I'm up for an adventure! Albeit a SLOW adventure :-) I've been wanting to ride it for some time, so I'll meet you at Smokey Js Bar-B-Q at 620 and 2222 at 10 am, weather permitting!

Hey Jeff, I sent you back another PM, but just in case you didn't get it (I wasn't sure if it went through) Smokey Js would be on the south west side of the intersection, if you use the streets as the 4 cardinal directions (620 being N-S and 2222/Bullock Hollow being E-W). When you get to the intersection you'll probably see it very easily, it is west of 620 and south of 2222/Bullock Hollow Rd.
And to let Anthony know it still looks like a 40% chance of rain. If its raining that morning I'm not heading out. If it looks questionable to you just call me if you like. If I don't answer then that means I'm on my way.

Hey guys, since I can only ride one day this weekend and Sunday is looking like 50% rain... I'm gonna go ride on Saturday instead. I may actually try to make it up to Hico, since I stumbled across that thread from another site.
So, Sunday is out for me. I'm gone next weekend, but maybe sometime after that?

Hey Anthony, I should be heading to Hico tomorrow, provided the fog isn't too bad in the morning, maybe I'll see you at one of the Austin meeting spots!
As for this Sunday, that's cool, man, no biggie. As for next weekend I'm pretty booked up, too, but we can try for the one after that.

Not sure about work yet. But if I can make it and it doesn't look like rain, I'll see you there.
