....H is out of town for three weeks, so I've been trying to fill it with special things to do with the kids to make the time go faster. So, yesterday, we left for Phoenix (100 mile trip or so) so we could catch a Diamondbacks game last night. First it was to the hotel to check in, and be in their pool 10 minutes later. We splashed around the pool for an hour or so, then headed off to the mall to get some sneakers and 2 CDs. Off to the food court for some lunch, watched brawny (and some eye candy..lol) men arm wrestle each other in competition at the mall (lol), then it was off to find the stadium. After a full day the kids were pretty tired, so they did fall asleep on the way. Uh oh, I thought. This might not be so good. But...turned out ok. I didnt have a map, but was proud to find the stadium anyway. I didnt get an outside shot because I was too busy *making sure* I knew where we were parked (watching every landmark etc). H is usually the watcher of these things and I could picture myself lost in Phoenix with my two kids. LOL Anyway, we made it inside and it was great to watch the kids take in the sights. I think this was the first time for our son at BankOne Ballpark (BOB). My daughter had been before, but didnt really care at the time. Cant say she really cared too much for the baseball part this time, either, but..the candy was good. LOL My son had lots of questions. He normally is on the couch with me at home when I am watching baseball, so it was a lot of fun to actually be at the stadium with him, too.
Some pics....the stadium is gorgeous. A really enjoyable place to be.
Here's a pic of the outfield:

A "whole field" shot. The roof opens when it is not 150 degrees outside. LOL

For you Tiger fans, here was their lineup:

There was no shortage of great baseball names in this game, even if it was interleague play. LOL
Troy Glaus hitting and the great Ivan "Pudge" Rodgriguez catching...When did he go to the Tigers? LOL

One of the great names in baseball, Brett Butler, is now first base coach for the D'backs. Dmitriy Young playing first base and Royce Clayton leading...

And just because....Butler still in playing condition.......What happened to baseball players wearing tight pants, anyway?

And, most importantly, some happy kids....

We had a good time, and capped it off with a short trip on a bike back to the truck. The kids loved that.
It was fun exposing my kids to the actual ballpark vs watching on TV.

Cute pics of the kids... Green used to be a Blue Jay :-(
Great pics Missy although I'd admit I was really looking forward to those tight pants.... Oh well....maybe we need to write a letter.... ;-) Sounds like you guys had an awesome time!! I love watching baseball games, it's so relaxing. I was wondering where Pudge had gone, loved him when he was here! Thanks for sharing!!

Mer, I'd have more pics, but the men around me were getting irritated with me. LOL I took pics waaay past their point of irritation, even. LOL
The other thing about baseball these days....wearing the pants down to their ankles. One guy had them up on by his knees, where there supposed to be!! I dont like the ankle look. LOL

PS. We left at the top of the 7th inning (I was surprised the kids made it that long!), when it was tied 1-1. D'backs ended up losing 5-1. :(
Regnaston, I always associate Green with the Dodgers. Forgot he was a Blue Jay. Sorry for your loss. LOL

Blasphemy! He has only been on that silly expansion team for a season! Of course, why should he care...his pay got cut in half...from more than 16mil/year to more than 8mil/year. *grumbles*

Sorry Mark..this is his 2nd season with the Dbacks...I wasnt sure of the exact number, so "few" seemed safe. I get confused with time since we also see him in spring training here in town.

Green completed the 2004 season with the Dodgers, and signed with the D'backs on January 11th, 2005. He hasn't even completed a single season with the D'backs.
Silly expansion team fans... ;-)

I suppose if the shoe fits, I am one. I must have him confused with someone else who joined the team last year, then. Sorry for the inaccuracy of my facts.
And, as we all love to hear....
You are right.

LOL Jen and Cindy...
My kids are the coolest to hang out with, so it's actually fun. They have their moments where I want to strangle 'em, but it's usually because they are wayyy tired.
I appreciate you ranking me high on the cool scale, tho. Now I can use this thread as blackmail someday when they tell me I'm NOT cool. LOL

That should make for some great memories for the kids, Missy. My first major league ball game was at Yankee Stadium back in 1961, for how long ago it was the memory is still quite vivid.
